All Poems, Farewell, Spain, Trips and Places

How Do You Say Goodbye?

How do you say goodbye?

When you’ve just learned all the street names?

All the shortcuts?

All the places to find your favorite breakfast breads?

How do you decide what to do?

When you only have two days left to wander?

Do you go to places you’ve already been?

Or to new ones?

Do you return to the Museum of Málaga?

To see the painting exhibit you missed?

Examples of Málaga’s art in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Including E. Simonet’s And She Had a Heart.

Two paintings by Picasso.

Landscapes and portraits.

Not to mention, the history of the museum itself.

Situated in the old Custom’s House.

That’s what we did.

On our third to last day.

Before we hiked the Paseo Marítimo to El Palo.

Where we lunched on black noodle paella.

At the Casa Manuel de la Lonja.

Then strolled back to the city.

To catch a film.

With each step we took,

we said a sad farewell.

Our senses, our recorders.

Eyes, ears, taste, feel, smell.
